We are Saved by Grace
Our condition before Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:1-3. 1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature, children of wrath, just as the others.
We were dead in our sins.
We followed the ways of the world.
We followed Satan’s ways.
We followed our sinful nature.
We were objects of God’s wrath.
God’s response to our condition. Ephesians 2:4-7. 1 Because of His great love with which He loves us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places with Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in his kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Because of His great love and mercy,
He made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our sins.
He raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in heavenly places.
Our new condition because of Jesus. Ephesians 2:8-10. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Grace is God’s undeserved loving kindness and favor towards man. Grace is God’s kindness expressed through Jesus Christ. It is how God responds to our failure. It is God’s action on man’s behalf.
We are saved by grace.
It is through faith.
This is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
It is not by works, therefore no one can boast.
We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.
God prepared in advance “good somethings” for us to do!
God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense = GRACE
Some of the gifts of grace to us because of Jesus.
Jesus has freed us from Satan’s power. (Colossians 2:15)
Jesus has given us salvation and eternal life. (John3:16)
Jesus has made us to become “sons of God”. (Galatians 4:4-7)
Jesus has made us God’s heirs. (Romans 8:15-17)
Jesus has made us to be God’s dwelling place. (I Corinthians 6:19-20)
Jesus tasted death for us. (Hebrews 2:9)
